Are you struggling with Hormonal imbalance…?

Are you tired all of the time? Do you feel like you have less energy than you used to? Are you experiencing ,low sex drive, hot flashes or night sweats? Have you been gaining more weight lately and don’t know why?

If you answered “yes” to one or more of these questions, you might be suffering from a hormonal imbalance. Hormonally and physically speaking, your body peaks around the age of 25. After that, your body produces fewer hormones. This decline over time results in the effects of aging that we generally see in women and men. There are also additional factors that can alter hormonal activity within the body
including chronic stress, environmental toxins, poor diet and lack of physical activity.

Find out if the symptoms you’re experiencing, might be due to an underlying hormonal imbalance.

1. Constant Fatigue and Weakness

Fatigue is a common symptom of a hormonal imbalance, especially in menopausal and postmenopausal women. Cortisol,is stress a hormone produced in the adrenal glands during times of stress, is often a contributor to fatigue.Cortisol levels directly affect the secretion of serotonin ,a hormone that makes us happy. Hence, if you’re experiencing depression and worthlessness while also feeling tired, it is a sure-fire sign of a hormonal imbalance.Furthermore, fatigue can be due to lack of a thyroid hormone that controls the body’s metabolism.

2. Unexplained weight gain/ or weight loss

If you’re eating well and physically active but you continually gain weight it could be caused by to hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism is a condition caused by insufficient levels of the thyroid hormone, which can slow down your metabolism and cause your pancreas to store fat.

3-Low Sex Drive

If your hormone levels are out of whack, you can experience issues like low libido, along with weight gain, fatigue, and lack of stamina among other symptoms. If you’re having symptoms of hormone imbalance or just don’t quite feel like yourself lately, a simple blood test can determine if your hormones are off.

4. Persistent Acne

The most common sign of hormonal imbalance in Teen is Acne or breakout. We all get the odd spot now and again, however, persistent or severe breakouts may be the result of too much production of Androgen or testosterone. Excess testosterone can increase the production of oil on your skin, which can clog pores and result in pimples or acne.

5-Sudden Food Cravings

When we undergo a hormonal imbalance, our adrenal gland can have a two-fold effect on our food cravings. On one hand, it can spike the cortisol levels up due to chronic hormonal stress, and on the other hand, it eventually experiences a burnout, leading to an underwhelming production of cortisol. Both these situations affect our blood sugar, which in turn affects our hunger.

6-Hair Loss

While another common sign of hormonal imbalance both in men and woman, Hair loss is also a common as postmenopausal, pregnancy and post-pregnancy symptom in women.According to the American Hair Loss Association, testosterone (a male hormone present in women in trace quantities) converts to its derivative hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) by interacting with an enzyme found in hair follicles .DHT harms and kills hair follicles, leading to hair loss. A hormonal imbalance accelerates the production of testosterone, causing more DHT conversions and greater hair loss.

7 -Infertility/PMS /PCOS

There are a number of factors that can impact woman’s fertility or ability to fall pregnant. From a hormonal perspective, these factors can include early menopause, PCOS,PMS,fibroids or endometriosis, a condition that affects a woman’s reproductive organs.

8- Insomnia

Insomnia is twice as common in women than in men. Women are more likely to experience more irritability, fatigue, headaches, and depression related to insomnia than men.Having trouble sleeping may be caused by a drop in progesterone, a hormone that has relaxing properties. It often drops during stress, before your period or after childbirth and can result in restlessness and insomnia. Insomnia can have a profound impact on your sex hormones including Testosterone and estrogen levels. low levels of estrogen can cause to experience a low sex drive or libido both in woman and men.

9-Belly fat

Carrying excess weight around the abdomen may be a sign of excess cortisol, and your body may be struggling to process insulin, causing fat storage around the belly. Other contributors to insulin resistance, or fat storage around the abdomen include excess testosterone in females, or excess estrogen in both sexes.

10- Hot flashes & Night Sweats

Another common sign of hormonal imbalance specially in postmenopausal woman is Excessive sweating, hot flushes and night sweats can be caused by a range of hormonal imbalances that may come from the adrenals, ovaries, thyroid or gastrointestinal tract.

11. Mood swings or Depression

This is a chicken-and-egg scenario. Most women have experienced mood swings and PMS caused by hormones. However, it also works the other way around. Ongoing stress can cause a hormonal imbalance, as it prompts your adrenal glands to release a wave of hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline.

So what should you do?

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms,it may be the result of a Hormonal imbalance. At this stage you need to consult with a healthcare professional ,doctor, who is specialized in Functional Medicine with special emphasis with hormonal imbalance management .Functional Medicine specialist goes beyond the symptoms, look at the big picture and always strive to uncover the underlying cause. So they can determine the source of dysfunction and develop a comprehensive treatment plan to address the root of the problem, restore balance and help you achieve your unique goal to get your life back.
